WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: How to shade spheres to look realistic using light logic.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Knowing how to shade spheres will help you understand the shading of any object with a rounded form.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will practice drawing spheres and develop your skills with a worksheet over the next two days.
Light does not only hit an object from a light source like the sun or a bulb. Light also bounces off of every object around. Shadows are full of reflected light.
Draw a circle by making light, repeating circular marks. Draw an ellipse under the circle to outline the cast shadow.
2. Erase the oval that falls inside the circle. Draw another ellipse to outline the shadow on the sphere.
3. Erase the top half of the line for the ellipse. Shade in everything on the shadow side as one, medium-dark value.
