WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: For some people, drawing the silhouette of something will be easier than drawing the contours of its edges. Being able to practice multiple illustration methods can help you overcome hurdles in your drawing practice.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: You will practice this drawing technique for the entire period and I will observe your work.
Value drawings work without contour lines, showing the edges and shapes of objects through Contrast.
Draw a circle by making light, repeating circular marks. Draw an ellipse under the circle to outline the cast shadow.
2. Erase the oval that falls inside the circle. Draw another ellipse to outline the shadow on the sphere.
3. Erase the top half of the line for the ellipse. Shade in everything on the shadow side as one, medium-dark value.
